Finding A Car
With only 38 original chassis, plus 10 race chassis, the Rocket is a very rare car to find. The best advice we can give is to contact the factory. They know the location and status of every chassis. Most sellers will advise the factory to see if there are potential buyers waiting. The factory is also likely to know when and where a chassis will appear at auction.

You should also check the News section of this site, as we will occasionally be advised by the factory of cars for sale.

So, having read the rest of our site, you are now fairly conversant with the issues, and have convinced yourself that you do want one. So contact the factory, arrange a visit if you can, and make it clear that you have the money available to buy a car. Then wait.

Know Your History

As we have explained under the Options section, there are no features that really make one chassis significantly more desirable than another. So you want a chassis with clear history, and known to have been cared for. Again, the best source for this will be the factory.

A Fair Price
With so few chassis, prices and demand are hugely variable. The hammer price will simply depend on how realistic the seller is, and how many potential buyers there are. As a broad guide at the time of writing (2006), a secondhand chassis in good condition should be around £25-30,000 (US$40-55,000).

Be aware that some cars have had “celebrity” owners – undoubtedly Gordon Murray’s chassis would command a premium price if he ever sold it. Of course, it’s your choice whether you are prepared to pay that premium.

A Clean Bill Of Health

If you are buying secondhand, even if the factory believe a car is in very good condition it is probably worth letting them take a very close look at her. After a brief period of acclimatising yourself to the car, looking for any issues you have, book the car in for a full service.

This will require you to leave the car at the factory, but costs are not in supercar territory. The reference points for whether the car is working well or not are probably too far out of your experience. So let them drive it to check suspension, engine, and transaxle are working well. they can also remove the engine to check clutch condition, and have the carburettors tuned.

If you are confident, you might choose this moment to have the car repainted. If you are not sure, wait until the first service 9below)

Insurance
Of course, you will need specialist insurance. Costs are likely to be comparable with a classic car of similar value.

Getting The Car You Want
We have listed some of the Options that are available. We recommend that you wait until you have used the car for a few months before deciding which, if any, you want.

Haven driven a Rocket at your factory about ten years ago,I tried in those times to get the car through SVA single vehicle approuval.In Luxembourg they did not know if they could approuve the Rocket as a motor bike or a car and they refused me the homologation.Could anybody help me ,or if a Rocket has been approuved in Germany it would be easier for me.
